A Nightly Routine Every Mom Needs

Let’s discuss a nightly routine that every mom needs. We can carry so much guilt and shame into a new day that it feels weighty and hard the minute our feet hit the floor in the morning. I want to encourage you to try something new that will help you let go of shame and allow for joy to fill your life.

Shame burdens us, leaves no room for joy and hinders our ability to live abundantly. I believe that shame is one of the greatest weapons of the enemy to keep us in bondage. God wants to set us free. Isaiah 61:7 says that He gives us double honor instead of our shame.

The Bible also tells us not to let the sun go down on our anger (Ephesians 4:26). We often take that as instruction to not stay angry with another person but what about ourselves? Have you ever been angry with yourself for not meeting your own expectations? The very next verse tells us that anger that stays is a foothold to the devil. I don’t know about you but the devil tries to mess with me enough. I don’t want to give him an in to mess with me even more.

God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23) but when we don’t give God our shame and forgive ourselves we deny those new mercies. He wants to give us double honor and new mercies and we reject them too often because we think we need to fix ourselves and overcome our bad habits on our own. God wants to take this feat on for you.

Do you know what else is possible in the morning? Joy. Joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Joy is possible in the morning when we leave the things in the night that are supposed to stay there. Shame and anger at ourselves belong in God’s hands where He can take it and give us back double honor and after rest…we get joy.

Tonight when you are heading to bed offer God any shame you have felt today. It may be shame you have long carried, ask God to help you identify it, or it may be shame that tugged at you when you didn’t respond the right way to a child today or didn’t get as much done as you’d like. Anything that has made you feel less than or overwhelmed, give it to God. Tell Him about it and ask Him to take your shame. You can trust your shame in God’s hands. Let go of your anger with yourself. Forgive yourself.

Keep practicing this night after night, letting go of shame, picking up honor, counting your fears to heaven and letting go of any anger. You will start to notice that you wake up with arms open wide to new mercies and morning joys.

Be strong and courageous today Brave Moms!

Welcome to Brave Moms

Welcome to Brave Moms! We are SO glad you are joining in on this journey of leaving weariness behind.

Since you’re here I am making a few assumptions. I am guessing that you love your kids but motherhood is a lot harder than you thought and sometimes you just don’t feel like you are doing a great job? You probably watch others around you and feel as though they somehow have it down and do it well but you consistently feel overwhelmed? Maybe you even have dreams in your heart that you have felt like you have had to lay down and you feel a bit like you’ve lost yourself in the midst of motherhood?

I have good news. You are not alone. I hope that helps you feel better but I don’t want to leave it there. It’s not just enough to know others have the same struggles you do. You don’t have to continue in this place of overwhelm and feeling like everyone else somehow has figured it all out and left you behind. Those dreams in your heart are there for a reason and you don’t have to give them all up in order to be a good mom.

These are the things Brave Moms is going to lead you in. God’s heart for you and your motherhood is so good. His heart is so tender towards you and He longs for you to know His truth. Brave Moms is here to equip you to walk courageously and without fear, knowing that God has your back, is on your side and will always be with you.

We plan to do this with frequent encouragement, inspiration and teaching. Be sure to join our email list to stay up to date and follow along on Instagram. Soon we will also be launching a weekly podcast and a quarterly online magazine. We’re so glad you are on this journey with us!

I’ve never known a mom who was completely ready I’ve never known a mom who was completely ready to be a mom. Who had it all together and wasn’t caught off guard by some aspects of motherhood. I’ve never mentioned to a friend that motherhood was tough and had her disagree with me. I’m not sure that any woman, no matter how prepared she is, has gotten it all right, believed all the right things about herself, never doubted her calling or success as a mom or felt she made all of the right decisions each time she was faced with one. Maybe you’ve felt like you were the only one who feels like it is hard but I promise you are not alone in that feeling.

Next Tuesday 9/15, we are beginning a Brave Moms online group for any mom who’s felt a little (or a lot) weary and is desperate for truth that helps her lay down her burdens. We’ve been helping moms do just that in our small groups for years now and we’d love for you to join us this time online. We are confident that God is going to meet with us and and transform us all into Brave Moms. Look for the link in our bio to join the Facebook group or comment below and we’ll message you a link to join. Tag your mom friends that could use the encouragement. xoxo
It’s been a tough several months in our world. W It’s been a tough several months in our world. We have felt it behind the scenes here at Brave Moms too. All of the above or something completely different? We want to hear from YOU! As we plan we want to keep you and your needs in mind. Let us know your thoughts in the comments or DM us and stay tuned for some exciting opportunities we have coming up for you!!
Going back to school is the beginning of a new rou Going back to school is the beginning of a new routine and requires adjustments (whether it’s at home or in person). And, mama, you get to have grace for yourself as you adjust and as your kid(s) adjust. You may be extra tired. You may feel like you’re at your max but speak kindly to yourself and give yourself lots of grace. Take breaks, do things that cultivate peace in your heart. Don’t forget that you NEED Jesus like you need oxygen. You will adjust. Your kids will adjust and it will all be OK. Take a deep breath and breath in grace today.
If you are desperate for peace, get close to Jesus If you are desperate for peace, get close to Jesus. If you need joy, be still and call His name. If you need someone to be gentle with you right now let Him know you need to hear from Him. If you could use some kindness and goodness in your life press your ear to His heart and believe what He’s telling you. If you need to know He’s going to be faithful to you today and in the coming days, tell Him you need Him to show up. If you desire self control lean in to His presence. ⁣
⁣
The fruit of the Spirit is the character of God. It’s who He is. And when we get close to Him we become more and more like Him. If you need Him just ask Him to show you how near and available He is. ⁣
⁣
You are loved. God’s presence is available to you here and now.
2020 has been rough y’all but we are doing it. W 2020 has been rough y’all but we are doing it. We are making it and we are going to come out of this year stronger than ever!
